iled Under (Animal House, Little Lassie) by Lassie on 22-04-2009

FlyGuy is out of town again this week and something strange happened the other night. On Monday, at about 11pm I was walking to our bedroom and the dog was in front of me trying to beat me there as usual. Fidget suddenly stopped and began cowering a few feet from the bedroom door. She was staring up at something/nothing and would not budge. I couldn’t prod her to go forward for at least a minute- a long time in dog years. Fidget was skittish the rest of the night. The incident gave me shivers, but I ignored it and needing to get a good night’s sleep, made sure not to watch Paranormal*State.

A few hours later, at about 1am, Little Lassie woke up laughing hysterically like she was being tickled. I mean, a loud, belly full of fun, please stop tickling me because I can’t breathe laugh. I tried to ignore it, thinking she woke up from a funny dream, but it was still odd because she rarely wakes up in the middle of the night and if she does, she’s always crying, not laughing. The laughter went on for a minute or two and then Little Lassie happily babbled for a while and eventually fell asleep. Weird. I mean, Little Lassie is the perfect child (said her doting mother) but she’s normal- she doesn’t poop rainbows or anything and she never wakes up in the middle of the night laughing. She cries, like every other baby I know.

Have you ever heard of babies waking up laughing in the middle of the night? I’m not sure what is going on around here, but if we have a ghost it obviously prefers Little Lassie to Fidget. Is it bad that I hope it continues to prefer Little Lassie and leave me alone?

Happy ICLW!
I am interested in your story and how you got your happy ending!
When I am not at work and my home computer / internet is working I will check out your story. Little lassie is a cute blog name – sounds scottish:)
What a sweet story of her waking and laughing!

I swear my daughter could see ghosts when she was about 3 months or so. She would lay on the floor and stare at the same spot on the wall and “talk” for a LONG time. She did that for weeks. If i positioned her a different way, she wouldn’t do the same “talking”. It was the weirdest thing, but I thought it was SO cool! I’ve often heard that babies and children can “see” spirits. I have no idea, but it was really neat!

That is so strange. Kind of freaks me out honestly as all paranormal stuff does. But a baby tickling ghost is pretty cool. Maybe this is just spirit who needs some happy baby time before moving on to the next place…

I could not handle the thought of a baby tickling ghost, so I will just say she must have been dreaming about you tickling her earlier. As for the dog business? I don’t know. My dog sees things all the time and barks at invisible squirrels in our tree. Dogs are weird. You might not have thought a thing about it had FlyGuy been home. Man, I think I’m such a Strong Woman, but when Will is away? SUCH a scaredy-cat!

Hope FlyGuy’s home soon!

That is totally creepy – sorry – but I hope to bleep I don’t hear any laughing babies unless I’m tickling them myself!

Ew. That’s totally creepy. But I do think kids can be in tune with this stuff. I’ve got a couple of good stories about my step-daughter when she was little.

Visiting from ICLW and I look forward to reading your story. My cousin Gracie woke up the morning that our grandpa died and was just laughing and laughing. When she got up later she said “Papa’s sleeping”. We think he stopped and tickled her on his way to Heaven.

As long as they are tickling her and making her happy, sounds like a good ghost. If it worries you buy a copy of “When Ghosts Speak”–they have a pretty good banishing ritual.

There are a more things in heaven and earth than are dreamt of… etc etc

Does that ghost babysit?

Sam laughs in his sleep but only for a few seconds at a time, never for prolonged periods. That is so weird! I’ll be interested to hear if anything else happens.

That is too spooky! When your daughter was laughing, what was the dog doing? It is said that dogs can see spirits and all…but there is no scientific explanation to all this…

Woah – Spooky indeed.

Sometimes Shelby will laugh in her sleep after a dream and it always creeps me out. Soon she’ll be saying “Red Rum” in her sleep.

Whew – that is some story. I totally believe in these spirits and yours seems friendly. Giggles are good.
