iled Under (FlyGuy and the Cessna, Little Lassie) by Lassie on 15-04-2008

Took Little Lassie home to meet the family last week. It was outrageously weird being in the role of mom around my own mom. I’ve never had a close relationship with my own mother, but she surprised me by being rather normal on this trip. Little Lassie charmed everyone with her smiles and pleasant personality.

We have another meeting with our social worker today. It’s a child welfare check up since we are still in that waiting limbo time before Little Lassie’s adoption is complete. I’m toying with the idea of working one day a week starting in the Fall. I’m missing the classroom and its controlled chaos. FlyGuy may be a work-at-home dad one day per week. He is eager to take on the roll, but I’m a bit hesitant since it often takes me a long time to clean up the mess from Little Lassie and daddy’s afternoon together.

Here is a recent example of what happened after a mere 30 minutes of playtime.

Not so bad you might be thinking. Look closely at the couch on the right and you will see this…

Where is she! They look like angels when they are sleeping. I remember when my mother and I became peers. It was kind of weird, but good. Motherhood steps up the mother daughter relationship to that of a weird kind of friendship. Glad it happened for you. Miss you! And I love the updates and snipets of the love story.
